21st SHETLAND 16-18 June 2006 Shetland RFC, c/o Clickimin Centre, Lerwick, Shetland ZE1 0PJ We don't usually need an excuse, but 2006 is the 21st invitation sevens tournament to be staged by Shetland RFC. We would therefore be very pleased if your club could accept our invitation to take part. Here's a taster of what to expect.

Friday 16 June - It all kicks off at 1800hrs with a mixed touch tournament to whet the appetite for a great weekend. The beer tent and BBQ will of course be open.
Saturday 17 June - Greenock Wanderers RFC are looking for a third consecutive men's tournament win this year - can your club stop them? The group stages commence at 1130, with competition for the main trophy, plate, shield and spoon to follow. St Andrews University Ladies RFC are the current holders of the ladies' shield and they will hopefully be back to defend their title. The BBQ (don't miss the local seafood specialities!) and well-stocked beer tent will be open all day. A three-course tournament dinner will be followed by the usual presentations and percolation of Lerwick's lively bars. Players are then encouraged to head early to the legendary North Star Shetland Mid-Summer Sevens Disco.
Sunday 18 June - The beer tent is open from 1200. Survivors from the previous day are dared to take part in the survivor's game, followed by each competing team entering in (responsible) drinking games held throughout the afternoon. There will be a live band performing in the beer tent. The local junior tournaments will run concurrently. For those staying with us another night, there will be another tournament disco in the evening.
The costs per person are roughly as follows: £115 (inclusive of return cabin on ferry from Aberdeen, transfers within Lerwick, 1 night accommodation, 3 course tournament dinner, tournament disco, live Sunday entertainment and near 24 hour daylight); £95 (as before but reclining chair instead of cabin on ferry). Additional nights of accommodation cost £10 per person.
If you make your own travel arrangements then the cost is £35 per person. We can arrange transport to collect you if you are flying. Visiting players are accommodated in the TA hall and are required to bring their own sleeping bags.

1630 (approx) Finals and presentation of trophies
1800 Tournament meal and formalities in multi-purpose room, Clickimin

3 Changes to your reservation can be made up until 48 hours before departure, after which only replacement names are allowed. We require a list of passengers travelling.
6 Northlink Ferries sponsor Shetland RFC and discounted ferry fares (30% off normal fares) can therefore
only be booked through Shetland RFC.

8 Accommodation is in Lerwick's TA Hall. Roll mats provided, bring your own sleeping bag. Separate sleeping
